Bus Maintenance and Operations Base Modernization and Expansion

Bus Maintenance and Operations Base Infrastructure Modernization and Expansion | Lakewood, WA | Pierce Transit Parametrix is providing GC/CM Advisory and PM/CM services for a 10-year program for refurbishment, replacement, and expansion of facilities at Pierce Transit’s bus maintenance and operations base. The base also serves over 100 Sound Transit coaches and includes battery electric bus charging facilities. The project expands capacity and operational capability consistent with FTA State of Good Repair guidelines and is being built in multiple phases to maintain full operations. The first phase of construction completed portions of site preparation and added lot capacity. The second phase is underway and includes a new fuel and wash facility. Additional phases have been revised due to COVID-19 revenue impacts and will be complete dover the next five to seven years. Parametrix is using the Heavy Civil authority when needed to rapidly negotiate and award critical project scopes. Parametrix services included securing PRC approval, contractor procurement (completed under an accelerated 10-week schedule), and PM/CM support including cost control, subcontracting plan review, CM and inspection.
